Dressing For Outdoor Adventures This Spring

The spring season can be a funny one. If we’re lucky, glorious sunshine starts to make an appearance and cloudless blue skies are a common delight. Yet Great British temperatures usually struggle despite the summeresque views overhead, and a chilly breeze will knock those ideas of bare legs and summer sandals on the head. Here’s a look at spring favourites that will keep you warm whilst you get outdoors and enjoy the start of something beautiful, better weather.

Biker Jacket

What modern woman doesn’t own a biker jacket? A contemporary take on the leather bomber that’s flattering, feminine yet edgy. This spring it’s all about the coloured design, so hideaway your black number and treat yourself to a pretty hue like pink or teal. White is another popular colour for jacket wear this year, but not so practical for muddy treks and countryside walks.

Slogan Sweater

Another spring trend to keep you warm is the simple sweater. This year you’ll want to get on with a slogan or message on it, because that’s a big trend at the moment. The motto or phrase you choose can be a reflection of your personality, so have fun!

Gilets

If you’ve always had a love-hate relationship with the Gilet, it’s time to make it your best friend. They’re perfect for spring, and whilst they are heavily a everyday coat (great for riding or walking the dog) you can find some really stylish designs on the market now.

Satchels

Can’t decide which bag to opt for? This season the satchel design is set to grow even further in popularity (as if it wasn’t everywhere before!), such a nice alternative to the rucksack if you need to take outdoor essentials like sun cream, map book, water, sunglasses etc. Sling across the body and forget about it whilst looking bang on trend. There are so many colours to choose from too, so you can pick a shade that will last you into summer and beyond.

Boots

Heading out for a spring time ramble? Get stuck in amongst the wildflowers and daisy with a nice pair of Spring boots. With drier grounds about, wellies are a necessity at this time of year, but flip-flops and pumps can still be bit premature. A pair of Dublin waterproof river boots are a really practical choice and add an adventurous touch to a floaty floral midi dress and blazer jacket.

Jumpsuits

A quick and easy way to make sure you’re covered from any spring chills is to go for an all-in-one jumpsuit. Pop on a pair of boots and a statement necklace – you’re done! Jumpsuits have been a spring/summer hit for a couple of years now, although not everyone can pull them off and you do need to remember the practical aspect… if you’re out for an afternoon amble, how easy will a jumpsuit be for a quick loo stop?

Pastel cardigans

Need a sweet extra layer that’s not too thick and not too thin. Cardigans are far from a granny wardrobe staple! Look out for pastel options that are big this spring. A nice choice when you don’t want a whole jacket on but you need to keep your arms covered up.
