Trend: The January Blues...

Have you been feeling blue this January? Well, fear not as we are here to tell you that it's ok. In fact better than ok, your bang on trend! Yes blue hues are the hottest (or maybe we should say coolest) shade on the fashion colour wheel this season, so it's time to turn your January blues into a style statement! Blue Fashion TrendIf you think about it, most of us wear blue on a regular basis through denim, so adding some more obviously indigo tones into our outfits is the perfect way to accessorise those casual every day fail safes. Head to toe blue can be tricky to pull off for most of us (we know double denim is in these days but c'mon it's not for everyone) so our favourite way to wear this trend is through bright accents. Whether you prefer dark royal shades or piercing azures is really up to you, both go remarkably well with a pair of jeans and a navy striped breton tee. Alternatively, if you work in an environment where denim is a no-go, bright shoes, scarves or jewellery accents can be a great way to jazz up your otherwise corporate work outfit. Blue Jewellery TrendAbove are some of the street style images that are inspiring us right now and below we've rounded up our favourite blue jewels from the Anna Lou of London collection, so that your path to mastering this trend is only a click away! 1. Admiral Chain bracelet 2. Blueberry leather bracelet 3. Sapphire Earrings 4. Cliffs of Dover Scarf 5. Blue Insignia Necklace (now only £7.50!!) What do you think of the blue trend? Are you a fan of the colour? Tweet us @annalouoflondon, send us a pic on Instagram or Follow us on Facebook.

Guest Post: Rose Gold Jewellery by La Fashion Folie

We're back with our first guest post of 2014 and this week we hear from the lovely Sophie, who blogs about fashion, jewellery and all things stylish at La Fashion Folie, as she talks about the latest trend for rose gold jewellery. A Rosy Outlook ‘Say it with roses’ so goes the iconic Cadbury’s slogan, a saying that can also be applied to the key trend for 2014: rose gold jewellery. The taste for this metal has slowly been gathering momentum over the past couple of years and this fashion season it is set to go stratospheric. Personally I am a huge fan, rose gold is now my go-to alloy, with yellow looking brash and white paling into insignificance in comparison.  I now wear the warm hued metal on a near-daily basis with my Anna Lou of London initial necklace becoming a firm favourite in my jewellery wardrobe. The appetite for rose gold  looks set to become more than a seasonal fad too; in my day job I work in the fine jewellery industry and over the past year we have seen an increasing number of clients opting for rose gold engagement rings and eternity bands. I can see why - a pink sapphire gemstone glows when it is set in a rose gold reflecting the warm tones of the metal – an incredible option for an engagement ring! Another cool way to wear rose coloured jewellery is to mix your metals; rose, yellow and white gold enhance one another’s precious appeal when styled together. Try investing in a piece that combines all three alloys in one – Anna Lou of London can tailor bespoke pieces in a mixture of metals upon request. Rose Gold Jewellery by La Fashion FolieTo get you started I’ve put together my edit of my favourite rose gold Anna Lou of London pieces below – all of which would look chic worn alone or layered up together. 1. The Dream Tag Necklace 2. The Initial Sideways Necklace 3. The engraved Heart bracelet 4. The Love Necklace (perfect for Valentines, keep an eye on my blog for a little giveaway soon) 5. Happy Disc Necklace Will you be wearing rose gold this year? This post was written by Sophie Greene of the fashion blog, La Fashion Folie.

Ask Anna - Jewellery Styling Tips #3

Our Saturday style sessions continue with more 'Ask Anna' jewellery styling tips today. We really hope you've enjoyed reading these posts as much as we've enjoyed doing them, it's so great to hear from our customers and Anna really loves playing style advisor every Saturday morning so please keep those questions coming! If you've missed our last few posts then allow us to fill you in; throughout November, every Saturday Anna has been offering up her best tips and tricks on how to wear your jewellery, what to style it with and how to avoid those jewellery faux pas, by answering some of the questions as sent in by you, our customers. We have one more Saturday style session to come next week so if there is anything you need to know from an established jewellery designer then now is the time to ask it! Drop Anna an email or Tweet us (all details at the bottom of the post) and we will be your fairy godmothers this Christmas! Back to today though and Anna is here to talk about how to achieve that coveted 'arm candy' look. Q) What are your top tips for wearing the #ArmCandy trend? ANNA) This season is the perfect time to experiment with wearing several bracelets at a time. The coveted #armcandy tag has become bigger than ever and piling up your wrist jewels has never been so popular, but getting the look right can be tricky. The trend really began in the blogosphere with the likes of Leandra Medine from Man Repeller so to get some great inspiration we always recommend stalking the instagram accounts of your fave fashion bloggers, but of course ours is pretty great too so give us a follow here and we promise we will have lots of #armcandy inspo for you. But back to the styling. It's really important to still be aware of patterns and sizes etc. Ask yourself questions like "Do these colours really go with each other?" and "Is this all so heavy that it might become annoying?!". There is much more to the #armcandy trend than just throwing all of your fave bracelets together in one. In the same way that you need to make sure your accessories fit with your outfit, your jewellery needs to work together too. As I suggested with my tips on layering jewellery, which you can read about here, it's best to establish your theme first. Once you have a 'look' you want to go for, finding the right colours and styles will be easier. With #armcandy it's ok to mix your metallics so don't be afraid to put silver and gold together but just make sure they are broken up with flashes of other colours and varying sizes. I always think that a few non metal pieces can be great to break the look up such as rope friendship bracelets or neon acrylics. Oh and lastly, quality counts. Always wear quality bracelets as overly cheap and tacky ones will look gimicky. Still unsure? Don't worry as on my site we've done the hard work for you - check out my ready made Arm Candy Sets here. Or if you prefer to create your own style, you can Mix and Match here. Don't forget to show us your style too, tag your instagram #armcandy with #annalouoflondon and if we love it we may even feature you on our site!   Thanks to Anna for another great style session. We're back next week with our final 'Ask Anna' installment so make sure you tune in but in the meantime you can email anna@annalouoflondon.com with any Q's or tweet @annalouoflondon with #askanna.

Guest Post: A Transitional Wardrobe by Sherin Malick

This week we have a fab guest post from fashion blogger Sherin Malick, who writes The Hi Fashion Site. Here she discusses how to successfully swap your Summer clothes for Winter and have that elusive transitional wardrobe. While standing in the shade, hiding from the rain last weekend at Somerset House, it was clear to see that our glorious summer was well behind us, with the winter looming nearer. I, for one, am nowhere near ready to give up my pretty dresses and cute sandals, and will be trying to wear them for as long as I can. There are still a few tricks we can use to carry on wearing our favourite Summer pieces and pretend that Winter is not yet here. Those floral and bright dresses are always hard to put away, but with the right layering, you’ll be able to wear them throughout the colder months too. Cute cardigans and bright coats are definitely the way forward. Pull them over your dress while you’re out and about, and you’ll be able to peel off the layers once you’re somewhere warmer, showing off your pretty summer looks. I always find that summer disappears too fast, so it’s nice to be able to keep those summer clothes going for that little bit longer. Finish off with a pair of tights (I always opt for opaque with a fun print) and some cute boots and you’re good to go. Boots are possibly the one thing about the colder weather that I love. I have tons of them, ranging from ankle to knee high and depending on the weather I love wearing them with skirts and dresses throughout the seasons, as they keep my legs nice and warm. I also love accessorising to ensure my looks still have a Summer vibe. I love adding colourful jewels and silver chains to add a bit of bling. Finishing off an outfit with jewellery is always my favourite thing to do, and I love making a statement with my accessories. Stacking bracelets, over-sized rings and fun necklaces, which I can pair with plain tops, are all favourites of mine, each so much fun to wear. Name necklaces, in particular, are everywhere at the moment; definitely perfect for making a statement. So there you have it. Some tips on how to make your Summer favourites work for the colder Autumn months. Enjoy and remember, have fun with your looks and stay warm! This is a guest post written by Sherin Malick.

Anna Lou of London at LFW SS14

This weekend Team ALOL braved the rain and gale force winds, packed up our best collections and wore the most fashionable outfits we could find to hit London Fashion Week SS14! This season we were proud to be a part of the blogger network, Handpicked Media's now legendary LFW events and join them in the stylish suite of One Aldwych to showcase our newest range to the long line of fashion and beauty bloggers who dropped by over the two day event. We set up early on Friday morning as LFW SS14 kicked off alongside the like of Freya Underwear, Superdry, Osiris Eyewear and Bourjois make up in anticipation of the first show-goers that day. The Handpicked Media suite offers bloggers a relaxed and inviting space to chill out in between shows, do a spot of blogging if need be and meet designers and brands first hand. We were showcasing our unique personalisation service and offering bloggers the chance to choose and design their own unique piece of custom made jewellery. We had everything from social tag necklaces to initial charm bracelets to engraved lockets being designed on the day and it was a pleasure to meet so many fans of the brand on the day. We also showcased our new Luxe collection for one of the first times and were so pleased with the terrific reaction we got to it, it seems you all love a bit of bling! [gallery columns="4" ids="1706,1707,1708,1709,1711,1714,1715,1716,1717,1718,1719,1720,1721,1722,1723,1724" orderby="rand"] Thanks to all who came to the event to support us and we look forward to seeing you all in your new jewellery! Don't forget that you can share your pics with us using the hashtag #howtowearannalou. As well as the pics from our event we also recorded some video footage over the two days and had a representative on the cobbles of Somerset House capturing street style so stay tuned for more LFW coverage on the blog very soon.

Guest Post: Tartan on Trend by Paula Holmes

This week we welcome our first Guest Blogger, Paula Holmes of the fashion blog, the P-Ho Diaries as she discusses one of her favourite trends this season, tartan. As we head into the second week of September, the weather is getting colder and sweaters and boots are top of my shopping list, it really is starting to feel like Autumn has well and truly begun. One of the major trends for Autumn/Winter fashion this year is Tartan which was seen across all the catwalks from designers such as Moschino, Versace, Celine and John Paul-Gaultier. Models wore checked coats, dresses, skirts, scarves, hats, you name it, it was everywhere. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of tartan is a kilt, which you guessed it is a must-have item for this season, but please don’t let that put you off. Pieces also have a punk edge by adding embellishment such as spikes, studs and zips. The Met Ball which took place in May earlier this year in New York, saw celebrities decked out in their finest punk attire. Christina Ricci ditched her goth black attire for a Vivienne Westwood tartan dress and Madonna was seen mixing the two trends together in a tartan jacket with studs and spikes teamed with just a pair of fishnets. However there is an easier way to wear tartan and punk, without going all Madonna and makes it much more accessible to wear. They are some great coats and jackets with tartan checks in stores right now and it really works well as a statement piece. I have chosen a tartan bomber jacket as one of mine and teamed it with some navy blue skinny jeans and a simple black t-shirt. If you are going to go for a statement tartan piece don’t feel like you have to keep the rest of the look simple, as seen on the catwalks the more tartan the better. However I think for this jacket it works well on its own. PhoDiariesTartan The best way to accessorise a bold statement tartan piece would be with some punk style jewellery. Try something like a studded wrap bracelet or metal skull bangle for that extra punk feel. If you are not feeling as bold to wear a statement jacket, then opt for little hints of tartan in scarves, tights or headbands. Whichever you choose you are totally on trend! Will you be joining the tartan army this season? This is a guest post written by Paula Holmes

Our Fashion Week Outfit Inspiration

Fashion weeks are upon us once again and with New York in full swing and London less than a few days away our attentions are turning to the dreaded 'What to wear' dilemma. As always in the fashion calendar, it can be easy to get yourself in a bit of a pickle with outfits around this time. We have only just had what appears to be our first proper day of Autumn after a gloriously long Summer but just as we reach for our coats and get ready to don our black opaques again, its time to start getting inspired by Spring Summer 2014! Confusing huh? But when it comes to fashion week there are a few key jewellery essentials that no outfit would be complete without. As they say, 'accessories are the key', so with that in mind we have compiled a little of whats inspiring us ahead of Friday from the NYFW streets and the pieces which will see you through five days of serious style. LFW statement necklaces 1. The Look at Me statement necklaces Throw a statement jewel encrusted necklace onto even the plainest of outfits and your instantly fashion week ready. We are getting inspired by these street stylistas and their amazing neck candy and will definitely be incorporating some of their pizzazz into our LFW outfits. Our new Luxe collection has just landed and its full of statement worthy bejewelled pieces which we will be working come Friday. LFW bling rings 2. The Bling Rings When it comes to fashion week we are never far from our phones, tablets and notepads, ready to record all of the action as it happens and keep our fans up to date on Twitter. Therefore there can be no hiding our hands in gloves or pockets and a bit of bling never goes amiss as these fashionable souls show! LFW arm candy 3. The Arm Candy Its an oldie but a goody. At Anna Lou of London we love stacking our bracelets up as high as they go and showing off some serious arm candy. There is never a better time to do so than at fashion week, so no matter what the outfit, we will be accessorising with at least one set of iconic bracelets. Don't forget that you can create your own arm candy sets at reduced prices from our mix and match section. This season Anna Lou of London will be taking part in the wonderful Handpicked Media's exclusive London Fashion Week style lounge and hosting an event space at One Aldwych where bloggers can pick up pieces to accessorize their fashion week outfits and get a first look at some of our new pieces. We will also have an Anna Lou representative at the shows and pounding the cobbled streets in search of some serious street style so keep an eye out for your pic appearing on this blog in the coming weeks. While all of this does mean this week is even more frantic than usual, we are also really excited to be part of the buzz that surrounds fashion week and play a part in styling the show-goers. Do keep up to date with us over fashion week by following us on Twitter and we look forward to seeing you all there!

How to Wear Anna Lou - The Bloggers!

Our How to wear Anna Lou campaign is in full swing and already we are loving seeing your style and discovering lots of new style tips on how to accessorise our pieces courtesy of our fans. We will be announcing this month’s winner at the end of August but for now we thought we would do a little mid month round up of some of our favourite bloggers and let their instagram pics do the talking as they show us how they wear their Anna Lou pieces, from arm candy to lockets to knuckleduster rings. And don’t forget you can join in too, simply post a picture of you wearing your favourite Anna Lou piece to either instagram or twitter and mention both @annalouoflondon and #howtowearannalou and you could win £50 to spend online at the end of this month! [gallery type="default" ids="1492,1493,1487,1488,1494,1489"] First up is the lovely Lucie from the fashion and lifestyle blog Lucie Loves, who teams her heart engraved locket with a baggy Zara dress and boots for effortless London style. Adele from Into the Blonde simply loves a bit of arm candy layering as her instagram account shows! We love how she teams two completely contrasting Anna Lou bracelets together to create a unique look. Another Lucy, this time from the wonderfully colourful and uplifting blog Shiny Thoughts, loves nothing more than a bright coloured accessory with some statement studs. She wears hers with a collection of statement rings for a true eclectic look. Ngoni from I am NRC has her own blog name knuckle duster ring and we think she wears it perfectly with a white statement clutch. Fashion Presenter and Writer Rhiannon Duffin from the blog Life N Style loves to accessorise her name necklace with her favourite colour of mint for a summer look that’s pastel perfection. And finally Ashley from Pink Julep Abroad shows us that an ID bracelet needn't be worn on its own, it can be stacked up with other pieces for arm candy with a personal touch. Keep up to date with our #HowtoWearAnnaLou campaign by checking out our photo album on Facebook and stay tuned as we will be bringing you another blog post full of your photos at the end of the month!

Anna Lou Gets Personal Blogger Event...

A few weeks ago at Anna Lou HQ we held an exclusive blogger event for some of our favourite UK fashion and lifestyle bloggers, getting them involved in the design process and helping them create their very own piece of personalised jewellery. At Anna Lou of London we offer an unrivalled bespoke service allowing you to pick and choose how you would like your item to look, from the personal engraving right down to the length and style of the chain. We got personal with our bloggers over a few glasses of bubbly and some rather delish silver, gold and rose gold designed macaroons and found out exactly what they wanted from their bespoke piece. And what a creative bunch they were! Everyone chose something completely different and we had everything from fierce, girl power, Beyonce tributes to loved up lockets with partners names engraved. Each of the pieces were then handmade by Anna especially for the bloggers and in the below pics you can see just some of the ways they have been wearing them! Anna Lou Gets Personal EventThank you to all of the lovely bloggers who came along, Aisling, Adele, Amy, Ashley, Elodie, Kristabel, Lela, Lucie, Lucy, Natasha, Nathalie, Ngoni, Marin, Paula, Sherin, and do head over to their blogs to see more on the pieces they picked.
