TREND: SINGLE EARRING

Could this be the simplest trend to pull off? If you’re anything like me, there’s bound to be a cluster of single earrings, you've lost one side to but you can’t bear to throw them away. Now the perfect solution has come our way, in the form of the single earring! That’s right, I said earring – and no, you haven’t read that wrong. Louis Vuitton, Celine, Tory Burch and many more, sent their models down the fall 2014 runway with one big statement earring in preference over the traditional matching earrings. Now, I must admit, initially I was a little apprehensive about this fashion trend, what if no-one realised I was going for the one earring look? What if it just looks like I’ve lost the other side of my earring? However, this trend has been gaining momentum off the catwalk with some of the most stylish ladies rocking this mismatching look. Most notably our girl crush Emma Watson has been supporting this trend on various red carpet appearances. The perfect mixture of cool and pretty, try styling this with simple clothing to put focus on the jewellery.

THE RED TREND

Vibrant, strong and classic; this fiery colour has been gracing the A/W 2014 catwalk from Christian Dior to Versace to Marissa Webb all coveting this hue, red has truly taken over the world of fashion. From coats to shoes to jewellery, it is the official colour of the season. We’ve spotted our favourite celebrities, Kate Bosworth, Emma Watson, Olivia Palermo to name a few, rocking this classic and minimalistic look. Crimson incorporated in the plentiful of black, gray and neutral winter style, lift the otherwise mundane outfit and create a focus point that pulls the outfit together. Red has long been associated with elements of allure, bright, flaming, and the list goes on. With the high street jumping on the bandwagon this season, there's plenty of items to choose from to create your own style. Statement pieces such as the dress comes as no surprise at Christmas but how about a statement red bag or jewellery to brighten up your outfit? There are so many different variations readily available, we at Anna Lou of London are obsessed with it this winter! Proven to turn heads on your night out; bright crimson is the colour to wear this season.

You Can Never be Overdressed

As you might remember, we sent Emily of Emily Divine an engraved heart bracelet which she styled in her story ‘Red stripes and Daisy print’, well Emily’s back, and back with her is her famous heart bracelet! This time, Emily’s out and about in a 60s style outfit and as ever, she’s looking stunning. Read Emily’s style tips below…   You Can Never be Overdressed By Emily Divine   ‘Someone once told me that you can never be overdressed. I think they were right.’

Emily Divine You Can Never be Overdressed 1

‘If I let you in to a little wardrobe secret, it's that I don't really own many 'casual' clothes.’

Emily Divine You Can Never be Overdressed Engraved Heart Bracelet 2

‘In my books, it's all about how you wear it. Take this cute shift dress for example. Technically it should be occasionwear by nature, but styled with some bright shoes and some white cat-eye sunglasses, you've got a perfect sixties look’

Floral Jewellery Comes into Bloom this Spring

Floral is a timeless trend and floral jewellery in particular. Indeed, the trend stems back to the time of the Egyptians who used real flowers in garlands or wreaths or worn as a single flower or leaf and the Romans with their floral pendants and head pieces. This season is no different, and as Spring brings life back to nature, we welcome back the floral trends that are so often associated with spring and summer.   Perhaps one of the reasons that floral is such a recurring trend is that it’s such a versatile theme, having thousands of flowers in nature to be inspired by, not to mention the range in which these can be used, from single flower studs, to vines that wrap around a bracelet through to a collection (a bouquet if you will) being arranged into a necklace or along a chain.   Here are a few of our favourite floral pieces this spring.   Les Nereides Floral Earrings, Asos, £44

The Interview Outfit featuring Anna Lou of London

We love blogging and bloggers and this week we’re especially loving Becca of Fashion-Train and her blog post about The Interview Outfit featuring Anna Lou of London jewellery. Working in fashion, it can often be difficult to meet the balance between being appropriately smart with demonstrating your eye for style and your ability to show it. In some offices, trainers and a sweatshirt are the norm with anything more being a bit showy, whereas in others, heels are an absolute must so upon first arrival, your outfit needs to be acceptable across a range of offices. Becca helps us on our way with this tricky dilemma in ‘The Interview Outfit – Gingham Dress and Leather Jacket’, making sure that no matter what your ultimate working wardbrobe may be, that you’re prepared for the initial meeting. This was what Becca had to say; ‘Since working in an office I've become more interested in 'workwear' clothes and staying stylish whilst at work. It's different working in retail as you can wear pretty much whatever you feel comfortable in but staying smart and stylish is a little bit more difficult! This outfit is the sort of outfit I'd wear to an interview/typical day at work.’

Becca The Interview Outfit - Gingham dress and leather jacket

‘I've paired this dress with one of my favourite necklaces from Anna Lou of London! It's bright neon which I really like and it means it brightens up pretty much ANY outfit and adds a little bit more personality into an outfit.’

The Interview Outfit featuring Anna Lou of London Becca 1

‘A shift dress like this is more of a day-time dress but can easily be worn out at night too with a pair of bright heels and a bright clutch bag!’

Jewellery Trends: How to Wear Barely There Jewellery

This spring everyone’s talking about ‘Barely There’, the trend of mixing and matching daintier pieces as opposed to going for one bold piece. Statement jewellery has definitely had its time but now is not it. We have a look at how to wear barely there jewellery Anna Lou style! Anna Lou of London cross bracelet engraved heart bracelet name bracelet barely there jewellery This is great news for people who feel a bit over done in a big cuff or a chunky pair of earrings. You can start small, and gain momentum, layering up gradually whilst maintaining a delicate and feminine look. Anna Lou of London arrow necklace love bar necklace side initial necklace barely there jewellery Rules about which metals can be put together have totally gone out the window! It’s ok to mix gold and silver and even throw in a rose gold or two! Mix up styles too, going for thick or thinly banded rings, worn on different fingers and at different points on the fingers, welcome studs, knots, twists and twirls! Combining colours and styles will add to the overall because layering isn’t about one item, it’s about an overall look.

Plus Size Accessory Style Inspired by Adele

For those of us who aren’t minute, having style can often feel like a near impossible task with the majority of the high street being aimed at skinny minis, with bodycons, clingy fabrics and revealing cut outs everywhere we go. Fortunately, when it comes to your accessories, the world is your oyster and Adele shows us how it’s done - turning any outfit into a success with the use of a few simple accessorising tips to achieve ultimate plus size accessory style.   The look: Big hair with statement earrings. Adele elongates her face by putting it into her signature bee-hive style which takes hair away from the face and ears giving the perfect platform for a pair of big sparkly earrings to dazzle the crowd framing the face perfectly.

 Adele accessories

The look: The Black dress with matching accessories. A black dress is the perfect background when you’re trying to really show off your sparkles and one of the most slimming colours. We love Adele’s matching earrings and ring. Tying accessories in together gives this look a sense of completion and unity.

The Look: Hair Accessories By making your hair the signature piece of your outfit, you’re detracting attention from problem areas. Try playing with hair bands, clips and netting like Adele to create a sophisticated and striking look
