Trend - High Shine

It's no surprise that come the Winter party season we all turn into magpies seeking out the shiniest, sparkliest items around and getting ready to dazzle at the Christmas party. But this season we can expect more than a few sequins as in the fashion world things are set to become a lot shinier. As seen at Giles, Mary Katrantzou, Ashish and Simone Rocha, the AW13 catwalks were full of high shine fabrics and illuminating clothing. Simone Rocha showed metallic colours and PVC wet look fabrics, Mary Katrantzou a more subtle iridescent sheen to her iconic prints,  Giles took shine to the next level with full metallic shimmering gowns and Ashish stuck to their trademark of bright sequins. Yup it's safe to say all things shiny are big news for the next few months. As a jewellery brand, obviously high shine has always been a priority for us but this season we too have upped the ante (and the shine factor) in our collections and pieces such as our chandelier statement necklace, P.S I Love you rings, statement crystal earrings and crystal avalanche hairpiece are an ode to the Winter bling effect which is upon us! What do you think of the high shine trend? Will you be rocking some serious Winter bling this season?

Trend: Thinking Pink

The pink coat has and still is the outerwear piece of the Autumn Winter season. As the weather turns and we all start thinking about our Winter wardrobes the colour pink seems high on the agenda. But even if you are not a girly girl, fear not as with such a big array of pink shades abound for this season you can easily find the one that suits you. Here at Anna Lou of London we are concentrating on the accessories (obvs!) and looking forward to teaming some statement pink jewels with our Winter regulars of grey, black and navy. The trend seems to be all about mixing and clashing pink on pink so don't stop when you find one hue your fond of. Team your fuchsias with your corals and your salmons and have one hell of a pink party this season! We've rounded up our favourite celeb inspiration and our top pink picks to see you through a rose tinted few months. hot pink trend The Hot Pink Honeys - From Rosie Huntington Whiteley's showstopper gown to Lea Michelle's sequin number these celebs pack a real punch in their choice of hot pink statement outfits. A fan of the hot pink fuchsia shade? Try our bright checkerboard bangle, our Bonito chain necklace or heart earrings. barbie pink trend The Barbie pink brights - When you think pink, you usually immediately think barbie pink and these celebs are incorporating accents of the colour into their outfits from Eva Mendez's coat to Jessica Alba's jeans. Get the look and throw a Barbie pink accent into your wardrobe with our venus bangle, love at first sight earrings and Bella chevron bangle. pastel pink trends  The Pastel pink perfectionists - pastels are big business this season and to opt for a real feminine touch go pale like celebrities Diane Kruger, Rihanna and Olivia Palermo. Get pastel perfection with our daisy earrings, pink insignia necklace, and candyfloss studded leather bracelet. What's your preferred shade of pink?

Get The Look - Kim Kardashian's Name Necklace

Whether you love her or hate her, there is no denying that Kim Kardashian always makes a statement with her fashion choices. There has been a defininite Kim shaped hole in those best dressed/ worst dressed (you decide) lists ever since she went into new baby hibernation and here at Anna Lou HQ we are rather excited to see her back on the fashion scene recently with a new post baby figure, new blonde hairdo and a brand new wardrobe (most of which has already set the fashion critics tongues wagging!).

We were even more excited when we spotted her not once but twice sporting, celeb favourite, a name necklace with little baby North West’s nickname ‘Nori’ adorned around her neck. She joins other celebrities including Miranda Kerr and Nicole Richie in sporting this trend of wearing jewellery to mark the new arrivals in their life. Kim was in Paris with boyfriend Kanye West for Paris Fashion Week and teamed her coveted name necklace with both an all Camel dress and coat look one day and a pink PVC pencil skirt and white tee the next. You can get Lim K’s look with your very own name necklace from Anna Lou of London which can be easily personalised with the name of your own children through our unrivalled bespoke service. Alternatively if you’d rather you can stick with your own name too! Welcome back Kim!

Everyone's Wearing... Back to Front Necklaces!

Nicole Kidman rocked a diamond No.5 one for her Chanel perfume advert, Carrie layered hers heavily in a wedding try on in the Sex and The City movie and Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence bonded over theirs at the Oscars this year. What are we talking about? Back to front necklaces of course! Ever since Oscar winner J.Law rocked one with her Dior gown on the night she was crowned Best Actress, the trend for wearing a necklace on your back has been gaining in popularity. Celebrity Trend Back Necklaces You only have to be on Pinterest around 5 minutes before gorgeous toned backs and equally gorgeous jewels find you and personally, here at Anna Lou of London we love the look. Whether worn ultra dressy with an evening gown or wedding dress, or kept casual with quirky charms and colourful tops, this is a jewellery trend that really makes you stand out from the crowd. The great thing is, its so easy to do. What could be more simple than taking your favourite necklace and turning it around to dangle down your back instead of your nape? For the evening look it works best when worn with a backless dress for maximum impact but if you are not that brave then make sure its either a statement colour, shape or material to really stand out, and wear it with a neutral colour. You can choose to go long and dangly a la Jennifer (pearls also work extremely well) or short and eye-catching like Anna Hathaways. Celebs such as Mary Kate Olsen and Kate Hudson are also fans, clearly adhering to the rule that showing a bit of back cleavage is the sexier route to go down, and we also spotted the trend a fair bit at the fashion weeks this season. And as soon as it hits the street style galleries you know its a winner! Turning your back on someone has never been so fashionable. Shop our selection of back worthy necklaces here.

Our Favourite Red Carpet looks from The Emmys 2013...

Last night saw the 65th primetime Emmy awards take place  in the U.S and we couldn't wait to see all of the red carpet looks this morning! There was a true mix of old school Hollywood glamour with fun prints and lots of embellishment. Here's our round up of our personal favourites from the evening and how you can recreate the jewellery looks with Anna Lou... The Emmys 2013 Red Carpet StyleThe Hollywood Glamour-pusses... Christina Hendricks, Michelle Dockery and Zooey Deschanel all opted for real evening glamour and a retro Hollywood vibe. We loved Zooey's ice blue J Mendal dress and bouffant hair teamed with quirky manicure and glittery clutch, and Christina's arm candy layering worked wonderfully with her fitted black Christian Siriano gown, but it was Brit Michelle Dockery who stole our heart in this show stopping Prada number and simple accessories. All of these celebs accessorized with large statement rings, get the look with our monogram ring. The Emmys 2013 Red CarpetThe Colour Chameleons... Despite the change in seasons, some celebs went all out with truly bright summery colours. Anna Faris clashed wonderfully with the red carpet in a bright yellow Monique Lhullier gown, Girls star Alison Williams rocked a cobalt blue Ralph Lauren floor length dress and our newest girl crush, Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka, took home the prize for most fashionable 13 year old in a fun embellished Delpozo dress. With such statement dresses, accessories need only be subtle and we'd recommend a simple gold chain bracelet such as our Hyacinth style. The Emmys 2013 Red Carpet StyleThe Glitzy Princesses... Its always great to see a bit of sparkle on the red carpet and many of the stars didn't disapoint by opting for full on glitter, sequinned and embellished numbers. Our favourites included the monochrome simplicity from Mad Men's Elizabeth Moss, the floral applique on Kerry Washington's Marchesa gown and our own Cat Deeley in floor length back sequins. The stars opted to accessorise their strapless show stoppers with equally show stopping earrings, get the look with our statement crystal earrings. The Emmys 2013 Red Carpet StyleThe Simple yet Striking... Some stars don't event need a bright colour, or layers of sparkle to shine. We were blown away with these celebs who all opted for very simple looks yet pulled off with effortless glamour. Our favourite was Rose Byrne in a soft pink Calvin Klein Collection gown which looked utterly beautiful on her, January Jones in nude lace Givenchy and Claire Danes in a low cut Armani Prive. When you look this good you need nothing more than a subtle sparkly stud like our teardrops. Who were your best dressed from The Emmy's this year? All imagery from Glamour Magazine

Introducing our new Luxe Collection

You may have noticed a whole host of new jewellery eye candy on the Anna Lou of London site recently? Well that's because we are so pleased to say that our much anticipated Luxe collection has finally landed! Made in the same signature Anna Lou style, evoking a good dose of wonderfully British elegance but with an added touch of luxury and class, this stand out collection is designed to suit all of your evening-wear needs. We wanted to offer an additional evening-wear range that could sit alongside our main collection, giving you the choice of a host of statement dazzling pieces that can be worn to that black tie event you may have coming up. Nothing says glamour like a giant sparkler of a gemstone hanging from your neck, wrist or earlobes and that's exactly what the Luxe collection is all about. Brighter, bolder and altogether more grown up than our mainline, there is nothing shy and retiring about these items so wear when you want to make a true style statement. Anna’s Guide to Buying Bespoke Jewellery

When it comes to fashion and jewellery, everyone loves to have something unique. Something no one else has and something which truly stands out, which is why bespoke jewellery can be so sought after. But with so many different options nowadays it can all be a bit overwhelming trying to find the right bespoke piece for you or the person you are buying for. With so many factors to get right, where do you begin?
Well who better to ask than a jewellery designer right? This week founder and designer of the Anna Lou of London Label, Anna herself, talks us through her top tips on buying bespoke.
1.       Go Classic – If you are going to invest in a piece of custom made jewellery, the chances are it’s because you want to buy something timeless, a piece of jewellery which means something and you will keep forever. Therefore my first tip would be to choose something classic. Go for a design, colour and style that you love now and will still love in ten years time. You might think that crazy nickname is hilarious now but will you still want to be wearing it around your neck in the future? 2.       Look at your current jewellery for inspiration – When you are trying to design your own custom piece of jewellery it can be easy to get tied up in knots with all of the questions and all of the possible answers. What chain length do you want? Would you prefer a rollo chain or a bead chain? Silver, gold or rose gold? The easiest way to navigate this is to look at your current jewellery collection and use your favourite pieces as inspiration. Take your favourite necklace and measure the length of its chain, the chances are if you wear that one all of the time choosing a similar length for your new piece will put you in good stead. If you are buying for a friend or loved one think about what type of jewellery they wear the most. Never seen them in anything other than rose gold? Maybe avoid the sterling silver this time. 3.       Choose something memorable – although I’d advise classic, that doesn’t mean you can’t have a piece of jewellery that’s memorable. The whole point of buying bespoke is to be able to create something unique to you so don’t play it safe, choose something that really strikes a chord for you and only you. If buying as a present think about the message you want to convey when giving the jewellery as a gift. Choose the words, dates or names that sum up your feelings for that person. 4.       Limit your options – Sometimes the fewer choices the better, trying to decide between a monogram and an engraving can be difficult if you haven’t yet narrowed down whether you are buying a necklace or a ring. First think about what you would get the most wear out of and narrow your choices down to one type of jewellery item, then think about whether you would prefer silver, gold or rose gold and so on. By taking one decision at a time, before you know it you will have designed your finished piece. 5.       Take your time – buying something bespoke isn’t a rush decision, it can often take weeks to perfect your message and you want to make sure the piece is just right. With my bespoke service at Anna Lou of London I offer my customers the option to email me with their thoughts and ideas and I will work with them on the process, ensuring they are happy with each step along the way and giving advice on the parts which can be most confusing.
So there you have it! Five top tips on buying your perfect bespoke piece of jewellery. If you would like Anna’s advice and help on creating and designing a bespoke item of your own then take a look on the website(insert link) or email her at
