TREND: 70s ACCESSORIES

Book the appointment for that feather cut, order those flares and dig out your lava lamp: it’s time to channel your inner Farrah Fawcett and time hop back to the 1970s. In an era totally focussed on peace and love, the female wardrobe reflected Britain’s newly-acquired laid back attitude. It-girls would opt for comfortable-yet-chic bell bottoms, floppy Fedora hats, midi dresses and Birkenstocks, to achieve an undone, naturally beautiful look. By night 70s disco rules applied - with mini skirts in vibrant patterns, giant statement jewellery, and knee high boots. Fast-forward 40 years, and the 70s trend is back for good – and I’ll bet you’ve seen at least one Fedora hat so far today. The S/S ’15 catwalks were completely awash with bell bottoms in almost every colour, pattern, style and cut imaginable to provide a modern, fresh take on the much loved trend, and textured knee high boots have dominated the legs of every Brit girl in the fashion know. But why stop just with your wardrobe? 70s accessories appeal to everything that Anna Lou herself adores. Think oversized, chunky, colourful pieces that are often embellished with glittering jewels. In other words, Anna Lou + 70s style = a match made in fashion heaven. Dip a toe into the 70s accessories trend by stacking a few colours of the Chevron bangle for Instagram-worthy arm candy, or give your outfit a cheeky accent with the colour-popping Daisy Resin Earrings. Or go all out and make Anna Lou proud with a statement acrylic bib necklace. Fit for a true 70s disco diva, this unique and eye-catching necklace will bring that mini skirt and boots to life and have you Queen of the dancefloor in no time. Groovy baby! And if you needed even more persuasion, Anna Lou's sending peace n' love with 50% off all 70s jewellery for a limited time only.

TREND: TAILORING

Tailoring has returned once again, however this year it comes without the masculine tag. Instead soft loose cut fabrics bring a touch of femininity to the usually androgynous outfit. Tailored outfits have come a long way since it's association with old stuffy men, and more synonymous with fresh, sleek and effortlessly chic. This mixture of classic tailoring and fluid, soft cuts create a relaxed feminine silhouette. The focus isn't to look masculine as Todd Lynn states “Keep those heels high… It’s about a great fit and a fearless approach to dressing, without the appearance of the old power suit.” Timeless structured fabric along with slouchy lines create a sexy, minimalistic and sophisticated look. Think oversized coats & jackets, wide-leg trousers, crisp shirt, classic waistcoat and man-style shoes. Many designers have experimented with tailoring for women from Stella McCartney, Calvin Klein to Christopher Kane. This is one trend you need to try this year, and done right, you will look effortlessly sleek.

A blend of casual and tailored. Mix your everyday clothes, such as a white t-shirt or jeans with fitted blazers or loose-fit trousers.

This white number oozes cool and fresh and effortlessness. An unusual collarless blazer add fluidity to the outfit while the white heels will make the legs look longer than it actually is. Hurrah!

Head to toe tailoring done right. Make sure to add a feminine accessories and high heels to soften the look.

Dainty minimal jewellery is a preferred for this look.

TREND: FUR AND KNIT

The dreary British Winter weather is finally upon us. With temperatures dropping, fur and knit wear embrace the chilly weather. Once preserved for lazy days, knits have made a huge comeback, from the likes of Stella McCartney, Saint Laurent and Kenzo re-inventing this winter staple. All-over knits and two-piece knits can seen anywhere and everywhere this season. Warm, cosy and comfortable but still stylish and chic, now there’s no need to sacrifice comfort and warmth for the sake of fashion. Specifically plaid, in British heritage tones seems to be the print to be seen in this season, with men, women and children all incorporating this hue in their wardrobes. Fur; like the knit is right on trend from jacket hoods, scarves, gilets to coats, this furry trend has firmly cemented itself this winter. Adding warmth and texture, you can layer both these trend together for the ultimate cozy and easy to wear style. Whatever style you are after; be it timeless, ageless, modern, chic, relaxed, simple; you can achieve this in fur and knits simply through the accessories you wear. I’ve put together a list few of my favourite looks. Hopefully this is helpful.

Casual Smart: Knit jumper coupled with black boots and silver jewellery for a put together but relaxed vibe to your outfit.

STYLE CRUSH: KATE MOSS

Kate Moss, an enduring face in the world of fashion, she has graced the catwalk ever since she was discovered in 1988 at the age of 14. A fashion chameleon, a style icon for over three decades Kate Moss constantly influenced the world of fashion and changed it forever. She has defied the rules of fashion and managed to escape being associated with just one era. Inspiring everyone, from high end designers, high street designers and us, she has become a legacy. Her personals style has adorned many fans, and as she once was quoted “I don’t follow a trend, I just have a thrown-together look people can relate too, not too ‘done.’” As proven by her collaboration with Topshop, where she designed her own collection; it sold millions of pounds within the first week. Effortlessly chic, everyone wants her style and everyone wants to know what she is wearing. She has rocked grunge, sophisticated, simplistic, glitzy… you name it, she’s not only modelled it, but owned it. A unique style, not influenced by trend is rare to find and Kate Moss pulls it off so well. 4206

Since then, she has gone on to become one of Hollywood’s top grossing actresses with an Oscar under her belt and a Golden Globe nomination, all at the age of 24. This American sweetheart is a breath of fresh air amongst other Hollywood actors. With an importance on staying grounded and staying true to herself, all the while the world around her is changing and the people she’s surrounded by are far from ordinary. Quirky, bubbly and cheerful she has captured the hearts of many people around the world with many pages, videos and blogs dedicated to her eccentric personality. 10 Spring Essentials every Brit Needs...

This time of year can be a royal pain in the behind at times with regards to the weather. The sun likes to deceive us and then we leave the house with only a light jacket to find its actually arctic levels of freezing and don't even get us started on those hailstones. Sun one minute, golf ball sized hail the next. Us Brits have to be prepared for it all, and so there's certain items that no Briton should be without. We've compiled the top ten spring essentials every Brit needs to own if they want to survive a Spring in the land of all weathers, and most of them should preferably be kept on your person at all times. 1. The umbrella - well of course this has to be the number 1 essential. It's best to carry a small umbrella in every bag you own just to avoid getting caught out! 2. The Parka Jacket - ah the parka, the jacket which will see you through every eventuality from muddy festivals to weekend trips abroad. Normally they are fleecy on the inside to keep you warm and have that all important waterproof exterior. Win win. 3. Wellington Boots - can you see a trend developing here? Welly boots are now seen as a pretty fashionable item though so you can easily get away with them for more than just a festival. We love the colourful Hunter styles. 4. A Pair of Sunglasses - did you know that the sun can harm your eyes even through clouds? Apparently in cities we are much more susceptible to sun damage because most of the time we don't even realise the sun is hitting us through all of the pollution. Always carry your favourite sunnies and even if you feel a bit silly wearing them on a cloudy day, we promise it's doing you good. 5. The multifunctional scarf - as well as your winter woolies, everyone needs a lighter scarf which can work with all of your outfits and easily be thrown into your bag. One amazing scarf can be tied around your hair when it gets warmer, around your neck when its a bit cooler and added to bag when you just need a bit of colour injected into the outfit. 6. A transitional dress - a dress that's easy to throw on in a fun floral print is a must for a british spring. Add tights and boots on colder days, go bare legged and add a denim jacket on warmer days. 7. A pair of 'wear with anything' boots - its not quite sandal weather but your ready to give up the winter shoes so a cute ankle boot is definitely your friend at this time of year. Wear with that dress we mentioned above and layer your legs as appropriate. 8. The lightweight knit - it may look sunny sometimes but once the sun goes so does any heat that came with it and you can be left rather cold come evening so a lightweight knit is the ideal in between. Keep it thin and easy to throw over tees and under jackets and that way it can be rolled up and slipped in your bag should the sun come out. 9. A great hair accessory - you know the scenario, you do your hair lovely first thing in the morning and by the time you reach the office having battled the elements you look as if you crawled backwards through a bush. Keep a jazzy hair accessory on you at all times to save you from having to survive a whole day of bad hair. Whether its a stylish bobble or glam headband, it's worth keeping in your handbag. 10. A bag big enough to fit all of the above!
