Choose It, Style It, Shoot It: The Silk Scarf by Thank Fifi

In case you missed our first choose it, style it, shoot it, we'll fill you in. We've introduced a new feature to the blog where we challenge some of our favourite fashion bloggers to choose, style and shoot a piece from the Anna Lou of London collection and we'll be sharing the results with you here each week. One of the things that the Anna Lou of London brand prides itself on is its versatility and each of our items can be interpreted to suit you own style. What better way to give you inspiration on how to incorporate our pieces into your own wardrobe than to give you a sneak peek into other people's? The Silk Scarf by Thank Fifi This week we catch up with top Scottish style blogger Wendy from the adorable fashion blog Thank Fifi as she talks us through how she styled up the Abbey Road silk scarf. Thank Fifi wears Anna lou of London Thank Fifi wears silk scarf"I chose this amazing scarf which I like to call the silk grand prix.  It's checked and monochrome so a perfect fit for my style and I love the 100% silk quality." Thank Fifi wearing ALOL silk scarfThank Fifi wears silk scarf"I've styled it as a knotted neck scarf which we've seen popping up more and more on the fashion week catwalks.  I think the slouchy knit and boyfriend jean keep it from looking too prim and proper." Thank Fifi wears the silk scarf"I'm looking forward to styling it with a messy up do, aviators and worn as a knotted headscarf.  Bring on summer - I can't wait!" All images from Thank Fifi, check out the full post for more inspiration on how to wear this trend and a big thank you to Wendy for the interview.

The Oscars 2014 - Our Best Dressed

So last night saw the 86th Academy Awards take place, did you stay up to watch? Personally we would have loved to see Amy Adams and Leo win one of those coveted trophies but what we were really interested in of course was the outfits. The ultimate Red carpet event, you can always guarantee some seriously stylish gowns and some seriously expensive jewels come the night, and the Oscars 2014 didn't disappoint. Here's our round up of the best dressed and the top trends from the evening... Shimmery Dresses at Oscars 2014The Bobby Dazzlers Sparkle, shine and metallics had to be one of the top trends from the red carpet this year and our faves included a Great Gatsby esque Oscar De La Renta flapper dress from Jennifer Garner, an un-recognisable Lady Gaga in sophisticated Versace and a shimmering Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab. Miranda Kerr also won the vote for after party gowns with her slinky silver number just making us even more jealous of how gorgeous she is. Oscars 2014 The best DressedThe Queens of Embellishment As well as full on shimmer, adornment and embellishment was key this year with nearly every A-lister opting for some sort of sparkly add ons. We loved Best Actress winner Cate Blanchett's Armani Prive number while Jessica Biel looked every inch the movie star in her Chanel couture and Sally Hawkins brought the house down in a divine Valentino number. Black Dress trend at the Oscars 2014The Black Swans If in doubt go for a black dress right? Well these gorgeous stars turned the simple black dress into something other wordly. Julia Roberts doesn't seem to be ageing one bit and looked stunning in her Givenchy lace gown, Charlize Theron opted for plunging necklines and long trains in Dior and Emma Watson looked far more chic than her years in Vera Wang. Lupita Nyong'o at Oscars 2014The Ones that 'Blue' us Away From Amy Adams in sophisticated Navy Gucci, Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen and Lupita Nyong'o's amazing icy blue Prada, we were bowled over by these blue hues. Jennifer Lawrence at Oscars 2014The Curveballs There are always a few standout looks from celebs that seem to do their own thing regardless of the trends (and most of the time that's exactly why we love them). This year the curveball awards go to Kate Hudson who turned up in a beautiful caped Versace gown and Jennifer Lawrence who was one of the only stars to go for a bright colour with her fiery orange Dior. Best Dressed Men at Oscars 2014And just because... We knew you'd appreciate it, here's some Oscars eye candy for you! Yum. Do you agree with our best dressed choices? Seeing as January is all about healthy living and post Christmas dieting, it's understandable that as Spring approaches we've got all things edible on the brain, even down to our fashion and jewellery choices. Lately we've been drooling (quite literally) over cute fashions that are good enough to eat and we thought it would be rude not to share some of our favourite fruity fashion spots. From strawberry's to cherries, watermelon's and ice cream cones, these fashionista's sure know how to make our mouth's water. 1. Lemony Fresh... Solange Knowles wearing lemon dressSolange Knowles is giving her sister a run for her money in this zesty get up and making us ache for Summer and festival season. And she's got the matching shoes - bitter? us? No more than a lemon. 2. I Carried a Watermelon... Kit Lee carrying watermelon bagEven Baby knew it was the perfect accessory in Dirty Dancing and Kit from Styleslicker has sealed the deal for us. We're starting with these cute watermelon studs and waiting for our very own Johnny to sweep us off our feet this Summer. 3. Pop Your Cherry... Anna Della Russo wearing Cherry headbandThat is to say in fashion terms, of course. Anna Della Russo is a fan, and therefore so are we! Shop our cherry pieces here! 4. Strawberry Fields... Street Style featuring StrawberriesThese fruity fashionistas sure know how to make us berry happy (sorry!). Whether in an all over print or just a humble knit for your noggin who doesn't love the humble strawberry? Trend: Spring Pastels

After the stormy weather last week, it's been great to see the first glimmer of sunshine this week wouldn't you agree? Spring has almost Sprung and therefore springlike trends are at the forefront of our minds. While it began last season with the ubiquitous pink coat, it seems that the spring pastels trend is sticking around for a while yet and the pink coat has been joined by it's friendly counterparts; the icy blue and creamy white coats. Over at LFW last weekend we certainly saw an abundance of pastel loving on the Somerset House cobbles and everyone we spoke to said that wearing those ice cream hues definitely put a Spring in their step after the long Winter. This trend is one that's set to get even bigger and better as the months go on and the weather warms up, and the great thing is that there is a shade for everyone and plenty of ways to wear it. So whether you are a fan of the peachy pinks, the minty greens or the baby blues, go pastel with your fashions this S/S and we promise you won't regret it. Take a look at our top pastel picks below... 5 top spring jewellery items from Anna Lou of London1. Heart acrylic studs 2. Blueberry Doilies Necklace 3. Bella studded bangle 4. Lilac bow bracelet 5. Aphrodite Luxe Necklace What do you think of the Pastel trend? Will you be wearing a pastel coloured coat?

Radiant Orchid - How to Wear the Colour of the Year

Every year colour experts, Pantone, announce an official colour of the year. The decision is made through a variety of measures by a worldwide team of representatives from colour standards groups, and can depend on all sorts of influences such as trends, economy and the overall zeitgeist of the time. For example when the colour Honeysuckle was declared as the colour of 2011 it was stated as so because; "In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues.". The colour is decided upon almost a year in advance and then distributed throughout so you can often expect a peak of the colours use in floral, fashion and consumer trends. 2014's shade has been declared as Radiant Orchid, a sweet and punchy light purple hue. We're pretty sure this colour will be whinging its way onto the high street and into your wardrobes before long so we thought we'd put together some ideas on how to wear the colour of the year. street style inspiration of colour purpleAs you can see from the above inspiration, there is plenty of ways to introduce this colour into your wardrobe from girly skirts to statement coats and shoes. But of course as per usual we are most excited about the accessories (well c'mon it is the best way to inject colour into your outfits no?) This purple colour works perfectly in the shape of a statement necklace against a crisp white shirt and looks great tied into hair of all shades. It may just be one of the easiest colours of the year to pull off. Radiant OrchidHere's our top picks... 1. Double heart hairclip 2. Miss Anna star crystal hair clip 3. Crystal acrylic earrings 4. Beetlejuice Acrylic necklace 5. Purple Haze Luxe necklace 6. Purple emperor rose earrings 7. Miss Anna strawberry hairband 8. Miss Anna crystal bow hairslide 9. Trend: Heavy Metals

You may be a bigger fan of Kylie than Kiss when it comes to metal of the music variety, but there is no reason why you can't be a full on heavy metal fan in jewellery terms. Heavy metals are big news this season which means abandoning that usual mantra of less is more. In this game, the thicker, heavier and shinier, the better. Heavy Metal Jewellery inspiration pics So how to tackle the trend? Well contrary to what you may be thinking, you don't need to overhaul your style and start wearing lashes of black eyeliner and shaping your hair into spikes. Despite the connotations, the trend for heavy jewellery doesn't necessarily come with that of heavy grungy fashion. In fact, so far in the style stakes, it's been quite the opposite and we've seen models and celebs alike donning thick metal jewels with either glam sophisticated evening wear or casual weekend wear. Simple items work best such as all black or all white ensembles teamed with one shade of heavy metal bling, or denim and separates accentuated with a lashing of hammered and textured jewels. Pieces to look out for with this trend include chunky choker style necklaces or thick chains, simple stacking rings in various metal shades and hammered metal bracelets and arm bands. Here's five of the best from the ALOL collection... Anna Lou of London heavy metal jewellery items1. Gold hammered ID bracelet 2. Couture Luxe Necklace 3. White frost Studded bangle 4. Darkness chain bracelet 5. Monogram signet ring What do you think of the heavy metal trend?
