September is here and while the sun may still be shining (what an amazing Summer we have had), thoughts are now turning to a new season in fashion and the AW13 products are already beginning to drop in stores.
It’s hard to think about Winter Coats and Autumn hues when even wearing jeans in London right now induces clamminess but before we know it the tide will turn and we will be wishing we had compiled our AW wishlist sooner. So with that in mind and as next seasons colour palettes and style movements begin to be revealed, we thought we would compile our AW13 top trends from the catwalks and how we will be wearing them as soon as the weather turns…
The perfect way to ease ourselves into Autumn Winter, this season forget dark blacks, greys and navy’s and opt for Winter clothes and cosy fabrics in contrasting Spring like hues, specifically a shade of gorgeous dusky pink. As seen at Simone Rocha, Antipodium and Topshop Unique, we predict an abundance of pastel pink Winter coats and ice cream coloured fur shrugs.
While it’s no surprise that yet again come the party season we will see a return to the trend for shine and sparkle, this season it’s less about the sequins and the glitter and more about paired down metallic mirroring and subtle reflection. Mary Katrantzou, Ashish and Christopher Kane all referenced this in their catwalk shows in February and we can’t wait to see how the high street interprets it. Think high shine satin fabrics and accents of glistening silver within dresses and you have the right idea.
If Hedi Slimane’s collection for Saint Laurent was anything to go by then we better keep a hold of those fishnets as grunge and punk is going to continue to influence our Winter wardrobes. Tartan and checks continue to be a key fabric choice and Cara Delevigne esque dressing with tough boots and lots of leather will get even darker for Autumn.
Always a favourite colourway come the colder months, vampish red is THE colour to invest in for AW13. And don’t even think about just wearing a touch of nail polish, according to JW Anderson, David Koma and Jonathan Saunders the look has to be head to toe. So this Winter we will be looking for the perfect LRD for the Christmas party. (Little red dress)
