Tour guides: Retail Therapy, Shopping at Oxford Circus
Indulge in some retail therapy with Anna Lou of London!
This weekend I decided to brave the shops and head to Oxford circus with my partner in crime! The flagship Topshop was our first stop, of course! Complete with five floors of clothes, jewels, make-up, accessories and even a tattoo and piercing parlour-there was something for everyone and I could have quite happily spent the day perusing such a beautiful shop. Honestly you could take a holiday there.
H&M was next up (snap up a 20% off card in this month’s glamour) where I stocked up on cosy knitwear as London has got much colder these past couple of weeks. The H&M at Oxford Circus is also a flagship and it didn’t disappoint! After round two of choosing, trying on, trying on more stuff and eventually buying our winter wardrobes my friend and I were getting peckish so we headed away from Oxford Circus down to Carnaby Street where we discovered a Hawaiian themed bistro. Here you could treat yourselves to Paninis, pancakes and sweet potato chips. Nom.
No shopping trip in central would be complete without a visit to Selfridges. After our lunch we headed to the bespoke department store to soak in the luxury ambiance and dream of all the designer handbags we could buy. The beauty hall was filled with elusive brands such as Illamasqua, Nars and Charlotte Tilbury(another famous namesake!). I swatched about twenty candy coloured lipsticks but managed to restrain myself. The interiors department now has a Conran shop and anthropology section which made me wish money grew on trees so that I could buy a flat and decorate it with all the autumn lush-ness.
No trip to London is complete without a visit to Oxford Circus. However at the weekend things can get a little frantic. My top tips would be to start early (Topshop opens at 11.30 on Sunday). Be aware shops open later in London on a Sunday but stay open till around 6pm. Allow yourself plenty of pit-stops and snack breaks. Re-fuel on caffeine, cupcakes and coconut water. Pick a few places to visit at a time, there is no way Oxford Circus can be done in a day! Last but not least have fun! Central London is a shopping addict’s paradise.
